When it was clear that we would travel to Miami last December, I chose to stay and find a hotel from South Beach. I have to disappoint you already here; – I had two children with me, I was not going there to party all night long and cure my hang over on the beach. I wanted to stay at South Beach because of the beach and the possibility to walk around and admire the pastel coloured Art Deco buildings from 1925 to 1940 with smooth wall surface, porthole windows or exotic details as fruits.
The Art Deco Historic District in Miami is located on Miami Beach between 5th Street and 23rd Street, along Ocean Drive, Collins Avenue and Washington Avenue.
Many hotels in the area are Art Deco style: Beacon, Colony, San Juan and St.Moritz to name a few and they all have something that draws my curiosity and that is why I continue to like the area.
Another city that has many interesting Art Nouveau and Art Deco architecture style is Helsinki, believe it or not, but more on that some other day:)
